JAN MURPHY GALLERY

typography, poster design

There is a deplorable culture of the mundane in art poster designs, which often display naught but the artist’s name beneath an image of their work.

These designs struck a note of individuality by paying homage to the artist’s unique style through utilizing their methodologies and tools. This was accomplished by identifying and appropriating the characteristics which make the artist unique.

Individual subtleties, such as Alexander Seton’s Plinth in Marble sculpture, are referenced.
